Malaysia Top 10 Art Competition Announces Winners!

The country’s largest secondary school art competition – Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Awards (MT10) has returned, bigger and better than ever! With lucrative scholarships from The One Academy and cash rewards as top prizes, thousands of young talents eagerly await this annual opportunity to compete among artistic peers.

Now in its 28th edition, this nationwide art competition reinstates its tradition of collaborating with The Walt Disney Company, featuring Disney?Pixar’s “Elio” as the theme for this year. With over RM910,000 worth of scholarships and cash prizes up for grabs, The One Academy scoured the nation in search of Malaysia’s finest young artists.

Held from May onwards, this national-level drawing competition – open to secondary school students aged 14 to 18 schoolers – spanned 13 locations across 8 states: Selangor (Petaling Jaya), Penang (Straits Quay), Malacca, Perak (Ipoh), Kelantan (Kota Bharu), Johor (Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Johor Bahru), Sabah (Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu), and Sarawak (Kuching, Sibu). The grand finale and awards ceremony took place on 26 July at The One Academy’s main campus in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya.

MT10 has long served as a launchpad for many aspiring creatives, helping young talents realise their artistic dreams. Since its inception, the competition has awarded over RM20.8 million in scholarships and cash prizes to outstanding students nationwide. With an increased prize pool this time, it aims to further inspire and motivate students to pursue their creative potential.

The ‘Best of the Best’ Gold Award was won by Wong Ker Yang from Selangor, taking home RM90,000 worth of The One Academy scholarship and RM3,000 in cash prize. Followed by the Silver Award, Sarah Ariesya binti Khairul Anuar from Selangor bagged RM70,000 worth of scholarship and RM2,000 cash prize. The Bronze Award went to Nicole Pang Yi Ning from Sarawak with RM50,000 worth of scholarship and RM1,000 cash prize.

The 7 Young Artists Awards winners were Lai Hiew Thong (Selangor), Chinta Suri Eowyn binti Zulkifli (Johor), Tan Iro (Johor), Shannon Leong Tze Kie (Sabah), Tam Kei Hang (Johor), Ooi Zi Ern (Selangor), and Aqilah binti Zulkarnain (Sabah). They each received RM30,000 worth of scholarship and RM500 cash prize for their effort. It does not end there, 30 participants also walked away with the Encouragement Prize of RM8,000 scholarship, while another 50 participants received the Jury’s Special Selection Prize of RM5,000 worth of scholarship.

In line with its commitment to excellence and its long-standing reputation as an institute of achievers – by achievers, for achievers – The One Academy also presented the Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Creative Youth Awards. This prestigious recognition honoured 10 outstanding graduates of The One Academy who have achieved remarkable success and left a significant impact on the creative industry.

Visitors also immersed themselves in the Creative Art Exploration experience at The One Academy’s Bandar Sunway campus – exploring the campus environment, inspiring student artworks, interactive installations, 3D animation, live digital art demonstration, fashion showcase, fine art exhibition, creative seminars and so much more.
