Course Overview

This course is designed to prepare students for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) by enhancing their English proficiency and test-taking strategies. It covers all four key language skills—listening, reading, writing, and speaking—in a supportive, blended learning environment. Conducted by a team of local and international lecturers, the course is ideal for both Malaysian and international students seeking university admission in Malaysia.

Curriculum

• Part 1 (4 weeks):
  • Introduction to MUET
  • Reading, writing, listening & speaking (proficiency enhancement)
  • Test-taking strategies for MUET
  • Mock tests for all skills with feedback
• Part 2 (4 weeks):
  • Mock Test Drills
  • Feedback and Discussion Sessions
• MUET Components Covered:
  • Listening: Exposure to oral texts including lectures, talks, phone calls, and advertisements
  • Reading: Texts from journals, articles, and various genres
  • Speaking: Presentations and group discussions on contemporary topics
  • Writing: Practice in diverse rhetorical styles

Entry Requirements

International Students: Must sit for the Oxford Online English Placement Test based on CEFR levels to determine entry into Part I or Part II.

Malaysian Students: Placement based on CEFR band from 1119 English Exam (SPM).

• Below B1: Part I
• B1 and above: Part II

*Placement tests will be conducted during orientation before semester begins.
