Course Overview

This Diploma in Hotel Management programme is specially designed to meet the growing needs of hotel industries by providing a solid foundation in hotel operation, planning and managing accommodation and food service establishment.

With a Diploma in Hotel Management, students will be equipped with a comprehensive knowledge required for employment in any hospitality industry. They will be exposed to both theories and hands-on learning opportunities. In addition, the industrial training will provide students with valuable experience, which will assist them in their career planning as well as in acquiring full-time job opportunities in hospitality industry.

Through its strong curriculum design that involves participation from the industry and various stakeholders, students will have an exciting career opportunity in management, supervisory and administrative positions in the hotel industry.

Programme Learning Outcome (PLO)

  • PLO1: Apply theoretical and management knowledge to meet the current needs, challenges, and changes in the hospitality industry.
  • PLO2: Provide critical solutions for real-life problems within the hospitality business industry.
  • PLO3: Able to perform operational tasks in hospitality industry.
  • PLO4: Demonstrate interpersonal skills in managing relationships in teams and within the hospitality industry.
  • PLO5: Able to convey ideas as well as communicate effectively and professionally using appropriate language in written form and/or through presentations.
  • PLO6: Able to use digital technology in order to run the hospitality operations.
  • PLO7: Able to apply quantitative skills in addressing hospitality issues and decision making.
  • PLO8: Able to perform work with a significant degree of personal responsibility and autonomy under broad guidance and direction as well as work together in building knowledge.
  • PLO9: Able to portray personal skills by demonstrating confidence, self-control, social skills, proper etiquette and time management in the hospitality organization.
  • PLO 10: Demonstrate entrepreneurial characteristics within the hospitality organization.
  • PLO 11: Demonstrate professionalism with ethical and legal practice in line with the hospitality codes of conduct.

Entry Requirements

1Pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or its equivalent with a minimum (3) credits in any subjects; OR
2Pass in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with a minimum Grade B in 3 subjects; OR
3Pass in Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 KKM in a related field; OR
4Pass in Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent with a minimum of Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in one subject; OR
5Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government of Malaysia.

* For Diploma and Advanced Diploma, International Students must score 4.0 for International English Languages Test System (IELTS) or equivalent.
