Course Overview

The MSU Bachelor in Translation and Interpreting programme is designed to produce professional translators and interpreters by balancing translation and interpreting skills with theoretical knowledge. Students will be equipped with essential tools to work globally, focusing on areas such as Translation Practice, Consecutive Interpreting, and Discourse Analysis. Elective courses include Media Literacy, Screen and TV production, and various language options.

Entry Requirements

  • A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects or its equivalent;
  • A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid;
  • A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent;
  • Matriculation/Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent.
  • A credit in the relevant language at SPM level or its equivalent for those who intend to major in Bahasa Melayu, Arabic, Chinese or Tamil.
  • For language programmes other than Bahasa Melayu, Arabic, Chinese or Tamil, the minimum credit in English at SPM or its equivalent is required.
  • International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in IELTS OR Band 3 of MUET OR its equivalent.
