Course Overview

The Master of Accounting and Finance programme provides graduates with a solid grounding to pursue a career in accountancy, finance and business. It also equips graduates with the ability to analyse and synthesise financial information within the context of business functions for financial decision-making. This programme is well-suited to anyone wishing to develop and consolidate his knowledge of accounting and finance with a view to pursuing a career in either field.

Successful MAF graduates (graduated) will be exempted from 14 out of 16 papers from the CIMA examination, through CIMA FLP programme.

Successful MAF graduates (graduated) will be exempted from 9 out of 13 papers from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examination.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements

- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Accounting or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75, as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR 

- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Accounting or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP; OR 

- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Non-Accounting field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to:

a) A thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their minimum of working experience; OR

b) Five (5) years of working experience in the relevant field OR 

- A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Accounting or a related field below a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years of working experience in the relevant field; OR 

- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Non-Accounting field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their working experience in the Accounting or related fields; OR

- A relevant professional accounting qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR 

- Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) recognised by the Government of Malaysia must fulfil the requirement on item i or ii.

English Language Requirements

1) Malaysian Students

MUET Band 4.0 or IELTS Band 5.5 or CEFR Low B2 or TOEFL iBT 46 or equivalent; OR

Exemption of English Language requirement if the medium of instruction during Bachelor studies was in English

2) International Students

IELTS Band 5.5 or CEFR Low B2 or TOEFL iBT 46 or equivalent

Exemption of English Language requirement if the medium of instruction during Bachelor studies was in English
