Course Overview

This postgraduate Psychology degree programme aims to provide students with advanced and in-depth knowledge related to psychological research as well as to foster higher-order thinking skills to generate and conduct research that brings both theoretical and practical implications. This programme will guide students to pursue self-advancement and put an ethical code of conduct into practice throughout the whole research process. Upon graduation, students should be able to work independently and responsibly throughout all the phases of research as well as to analyse and communicate the findings effectively to a diverse group of audiences.

Scholarships are available for Malaysian students with outstanding academic achievement and publication records.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements

- A Bachelor's degree in Psychology (Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR

- A Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR

- A Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA Of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years of working experience in a Psychology related field and rigorous internal assessment; OR

- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree (non-psychology, Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 with a minimum of 45 credits of prerequisites modules in Psychology or a graduate diploma in Psychology or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR

- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree (non-psychology, Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a Master's degree in psychology with a minimum of 45 credits of prerequisites modules in Psychology or a graduate diploma in Psychology or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR 

- Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian government as equivalent to the above requirements. 

English Language Requirements

1) Malaysian Students

MUET Band 3.5 or IELTS Band 5.0 or CEFR High B1 or TOEFL iBT 40 or equivalent; OR

Exemption of English Language requirement if the medium of instruction during Bachelor studies was in English

2) International Students

IELTS Band 5.0 or CEFR High B1 or TOEFL iBT 40 or equivalent; OR

Exemption of English Language requirement if the medium of instruction during Bachelor studies was in English
