The field of plant biotechnology focuses on the development of methods for the improvement of plant products to meet the world's demand for food, raw materials and fuel. In addition to being a food source, the plant also supplies humans with a variety of pharmaceutical and industrial ingredients. The increase in the world's population leads to an increase in daily demand. Through the field of plant biotechnology, increasing quantities of crop production and production of plant-specific characteristics can be obtained. In this program, students will be exposed to the science and techniques of plant biotechnology by emphasizing aspects of plant culture and molecular biology.
