Introduction

Island College of Technology (ICT) or Kolej Teknologi Pulau is one of the fastest growing higher educational institutions in the Northern Region of Malaysia.

On 18th February 1998, ICT Associates (M) Sdn. Bhd. obtained the license for this College to be registered under the name of Kolej Teknologi Pulau, Pulau Pinang or Island College of Technology, Penang (ICT).

ICT is strategically located at Balik Pulau, Penang in a serene campus of 13.5 acres. The location is ideal for study and recreation. The branch campus is located in Klang, Selangor. This largely self-contained campus forms a stimulating environment in which to live and study. It has the advantage of being in the centre of the town and just five minutes walk from the Commuter Train Station linking the city of Kuala Lumpur.

The College motto 'Commitment to Quality and Excellence' has become the driving force in providing quality services towards achieving excellent results. ICT emphasises on student development and this is done through comprehensive lecturer-student activities to produce high quality students. Hand in hand with the internationally recognised programmes being offered, the College takes great pains to provide an environment conducive for its students and to inculcate good learning culture.

The College shall continue to have linkage with renowned Universities for their many other programmes. Initially, ICT was offering the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Matriculation programme and the Universiti Sabah Malaysia (UMS) Matriculation programme. The College has since broadened its programmes from Certificate to Diploma and Degree levels. They are offered independently through franchise, external degree or validation by renowned Malaysian Public Universities.

Programme Outline

ICT offers programmes at various levels in collaboration with USM and UUM, accredited and approved by the National Accreditation Board (MQA - Malaysian Qualifications Agency) under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

The college, which has produced over 4,000 students, offers a wide range of Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Short Courses, with many options to choose from. The programmes offered at ICT are:

Facilities

Presently, ICT offers various facilities for student development such as Computer Labs (with Internet facilities), a hall, lecture halls/ rooms, cafeteria, business centre, library and hostels for student accommodation located within the campus. There is also a shuttle service for students living off-campus.

Student Support Services & Student Development Activities

On 4 March 2006, Deputy Prime Minister, Y.A.B. Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak officiated the launching of ICT's Student Education Fund. With the support of several Corporate Bodies, this fund is to benefit needy students, enabling them to pursue their academic programmes at the College. The current facilities for the loans are extremely limited and our students are currently funded by MARA, PTPTN and also Bank Rakyat with a reasonable loan package.
