ICSA is the leading recognized professional body for Chartered Secretaries and administrators throughout the world. A Chartered Secretary is qualified in company law, accounting, corporate governance, administration, company secretarial practice and management. They are trained to chart a course through regulation, legislation and best practice, and to deliver effective operations. The Institute has 44,000 Members and 28,000 Students in over 70 countries. MAICSA was founded in 1959 as an affiliated body to ICSA. Membership of the Institute is limited only to members and students of the Institute residing in Malaysia. At present the Institute has around 4,700 members and 3,000 students. MAICSA is the premier professional body for corporate secretary-ship in Malaysia. The ICSA International Qualifying Scheme (IQS) comprises the Foundation Part 1, Foundation Part 2, Professional Part 1 and Professional Part 2 Programmes. Under the IQS, related degree holders of recognized universities and of chartered accountancy body qualifications are granted maximum exemptions and required to only pass the examination of Part 2 of the Professional Programme and attend a maximum of two CPE seminars for the Part 1 of the Professional Programme. Non-related degree holders of recognized universities are required to pass the examination of Part 2 of the Professional Programme, to attend CPE seminars and to complete assignments for all four subjects in Part 1 of the Professional Programme.
